It all started in 2019, with a huge desire to change the way we look at food. We wanted to challenge the status quo of a food system that sends fruits and vegetables hundreds of kilometers to reach our plates, while tons of perfectly good, local food end up in the trash.

We settled in Lisbon with little more than an idea and a strong desire to do things differently. We only knew that we wanted to support those who cultivate the land and, at the same time, help consumers make more conscious choices. The idea was simple: to connect regional farmers with people who value flavor, freshness, and seasonality.

That's how Equal Food was born. A sustainable, healthy, and practical way to receive good food and combat food waste . We put this idea into practice by delivering baskets of fresh, flavorful fruits and vegetables directly to the doorsteps of our community, so that each meal becomes richer and tastier.

In the European Union alone, around 50 million tons of fruits and vegetables are wasted every year . Globally, 1.3 billion tons of edible food are discarded, generating 8% of global CO₂ emissions (FAO, 2020) .

Our mission is to transform people's food. We want to ensure that no good food ends up being wasted or discarded, regardless of its appearance. We aim for every harvest from our producers to have the destination it deserves.

We work to create a fairer food system, where taste and quality matter more than appearance.

At Equal Food, we believe that every basket delivered is a step towards a more balanced future, where eating well also means caring for the planet and those who make it grow.

We believe in a food system that values ​​all people and every food produced. We work to give a dignified destination to what would otherwise be wasted, paying farmers a fair price and ensuring that everyone at Equal Food is treated with the same respect.

We seek to reduce our ecological impact at every stage, from transportation to packaging, and rethink how we view what is "imperfect." We want to prove that fruits and vegetables with different shapes also have an irresistible appeal.

Above all, we want to create happiness: in the farmers who harvest, in the teams that prepare, and in those who receive the basket at home. Because changing the food system can also be a source of joy.
