How to transform an avocado pit into a new life.

There are things in the kitchen that seem small, but change the way we look at waste. The avocado pit is one of them. Normally it goes in the trash without question, but just a glass of water is enough to realize that that seed has a will of its own. From what would be trash, a plant is born .

After washing the pit, leave it suspended in a glass with the wider end facing down. The water should only touch the base of the seed. Over time, the pit will open, a root will grow, and a stem will emerge. When you get the first leaves, it's ready to transplant into a pot with light, moist soil.

How to do it step by step:

  • Wash the pit thoroughly and remove any remaining pulp.

  • He uses three or four toothpicks to keep it suspended on the rim of a glass.

  • Make sure the wider part is facing down, touching the water.

  • He changes the water regularly to prevent odors or mold.

  • Observe the root growing from the bottom up and the stem appearing at the top.

  • Once it has leaves, transfer it to a pot and keep the soil moist.

There's no need to wait for results; the charm lies in the process. A seed you would throw away transforms into a living plant, reminding us that small choices also count towards reducing waste.
